The NANOTECHNOLOGIES WALLONIA INNOVATION (NANOWIN) serves as a mechanism to support the regional awareness of the emerging nanotechnology industry and its potential impact on the Wallonia region of Belgium. NANOWIN works to promote Wallonia, the French speaking part of Belgium, and its resources as a valuable site for the nanotechnology industry and to provide an efficient, synthetic overview of the new developments in industry and nanotechnology transfer in the region.
Consistent with the missions of Wallonia Trade and Investment Agency (AWEX), the NANOWIN also provides the international community with insight into companies and competence centers that are located in Wallonia from the nanotechnology perspective.
This website has been designed, and will be regularly updated to provide the following information:
- Nano-technologies and products developed and manufactured in the Wallonia region of Belgium;
- Wallonia nano-projects and funding for the the priority sectors of development, as designated by the Wallonia Government (namely, mechanical engineering, health, aerospace, agro-food and logistics);
- Events organized by Walloon “nano-players” as well as third parties who have a specific interest for Wallonia companies;
- Areas of competence in the nano field which are underdeveloped and/or lacking in the Wallonia region and for which international cooperation or investment could complement the existing value chain;
- Safety issues dealt with by Wallonia competence centers.
